Branding, what even is that?

I’ve been sitting with this for a while…..what do I actually want my brand to feel like? What kind of work lights me up, even if it’s a little off the beaten path?

For so long, I was deep in traditional flower shop life specifically in West LA. The luxe style of Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, sometimes Beverly Hills. Tight spirals, seasonal pastel palettes, clean kraft paper wraps, neutral ribbons. It’s what I was taught and I was good at it. But lately I’ve realized I’ve outgrown that version of floral design. It doesn’t excite me anymore. It doesn’t feel like me.

My real inspiration comes from things that are a little more strange and unusual. I'm drawn to folklore, green magic, dreamy fairytale vibes even a little folk horror. Think The Wicker Man, Midsommar, The Green Knight. Those movies are beautiful and haunting and lush with floral arrangements and mossy forests I would have killed to be part of creating with the team. They feel like you're walking into something ancient and magical and that's the energy I want in my flowers. Nature that's a little eerie and a little weird and spooky even. I love my pinks and purples too, I love fairytales and keeping things airy and light. Typical Gemini fashion, my two sides of my personality always fighting. Cute and pink vs spooky and goth.

My wreaths, for example my inspiration for those comes straight out of something like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but in a way that’s still beautiful. Like, I want them to look like Bubba from Texas Chainsaw made them for his bone mantle. Or maybe the Blair Witch had an arts and crafts day. Twisted, mossy, with bits of bark and gnarled curly willow sticking out like claws. I love anything that looks like it was made deep in the forest by someone who's not quite human.

Curly willow is one of my favorite materials. It’s wild and strange and unpredictable. I love moss too soft layers of it tucked into vessels or hanging off a branch like it’s been there for years. I want my designs to feel like they were unearthed or stumbled upon, not arranged in a studio with perfect lighting. I use Amaranthus a lot for this reason, i makes everything feel a little more like it was growing in some post dystopian The Last of Us flower shop.

I’ve started unlearning all the flower shop rules the ones that say florals have to be symmetrical or whites and green monochromatic or wrapped a certain way to be considered “professional.” I’m learning to trust that there’s a real audience for flowers that feel personal and weird and full of story. There are people out there who want flowers that feel like spells or offerings, not just centerpieces. So come and find me!

That’s what Root and Petal is all about. It’s not just a flower business. It’s my way of telling stories through plants and flowers. I use thrifted vessels, branches, moss, wild textures, dried bits, and fresh blooms all mixed together in a way that feels like folklore come to life. Every arrangement is a little different, and that’s the point. I want it to feel human and handmade and wild like it grew right there just like that. Untamed and wild can also be professionally created.

If you're in the Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Gabriel Valley area and looking for flower delivery, I offer custom floral arrangements, plant-based installations, and seasonal wreaths delivered right to your door. Whether you’re in Pasadena, Echo Park, Santa Monica, Santa Ana, or anywhere else I bring florals with personality and strange wildflower flair. I’m available for onetime flower deliveries, weekly flower subscriptions, or event florals, all designed with intention and heart.

My flower delivery service in Los Angeles is perfect for people who want something beyond the usual flowers with a story, arrangements that feel like they belong in a dream or an old myth. Whether you're ordering flowers for a friend, setting the mood for a dinner party, or just need something beautiful and strange for your home or altar, I’ve got you.

And I’m still learning how to let go of the parts of me that want to play it safe. I still catch myself editing down my ideas, trying to make things a little more “normal.” But honestly, normal isn’t what I’m going for anymore. I want wild. I want weird. I want flowers that feel alive.

So if you’ve ever watched Midsommar and thought, “That flower dress is kind of everything,” or if you love the look of mossy branches and tangled vines, or you just want flowers that feel like they were made by a forest witch with good taste you’re my people.

Thanks for being here while I figure it all out. I’m building something that feels like home to me, and I’m finally letting myself go all in.
